GP: Moodboard Two

I chose to do the alternative genre as Lorde represents this genre a long with art-pop. This genre had quite dark imagery & costume (almost grunge-like). Alex on his mood-board got a dark colours vibe as having bright colours would clash with the song mood & I found that alternative music tended to follow the 'dark' trend. Alternative artists, for example Green Day, tend not to conform to commercial high-budget unrelatable 'mainstream' genres (partying in VIP clubs) but tend to be more relatable to the audience and are set in more familiar locations. The roots of alternative music started with more 'indie' bands who were not making as much money and had a niche following; the tradition of not emphasising richness is continued (un-glamourised)(making lo-fi, or seemingly lo-fi, videos). Lorde's video for Royals features a normal-sized house on a normal street with 'normal' people whilst Lorde is performing her song in a 'normal' setting which audiences will be familiar with. Obviously, a target audience is then established and the target audience is the majority of society (not upper, upper class or celebrities). The videos tend to be quirky (sometimes very quirky) as well, not always a clear illustration; sometimes the video is completely disjunctive but could be seen as amplified (artistic & stylised).

The artists included in this mood board are The 1975, Lorde, Everything Everything, Nirvana, Green Day, Paramore & The Pretty Reckless
