IH: Responding to a Track

The Track: The Black Keys - Gold on The Ceiling

2) What is the genre of the track? How can you tell?
- This song is classified as rock music, characterised by the use of electric guitars, drums and distorted vocals. Furthermore, the leather jackets and "headbanging" of the duo are conventional of this genre of music.

3) Do you think this track represents a high or lo fi video? Why?
- I think this track represents a lo fi video as it has a rugged, edgy quality in the guitar and vocals that would not lend themselves to a glossy, slick Hollywood production. Furthermore the use of the analogue film-style filters and the slow motion make the song all the more characterful.

4) Show stills from comparable music videos:

Another Black Keys music video, again with interesting stage lighting, a performance narrative and the extreme lo fi/ analogue film aesthetic. It is highly likely that the people who shot the Gold on The Ceiling music video also made this, perhaps on tour.

A Mumford and Sons music video, this is filmed in a more slick, clean fashion but similarly to the Black Keys song it features the band playing to the crowd at a live performance

5) Find out the budget for one of the above examples.
- I was unable to find eithers budget, but the Black Keys music video would be very low budget as it is only recorded footage of the band behind stage and performing.
